The Bratislava City Gallery ( Slovakian Galéria mesta Bratislava , GMB) is an art museum in Bratislava . It is the second largest association of art museums in Slovakia after the Slovak National Gallery . The exhibition is spread over two buildings in the old town , the Palais Pálffy and the Mirbachpalais . The gallery owns over 35,000 works of art of Slovak and foreign origin, ranging from Gothic to modern visual arts .

The collection dates back to the second half of the 19th century; a significant part is the donation from the sculptor Viktor Tilgner in 1883. The works of art were initially exhibited in the Municipal Museum . From 1959 to 1961 these were transferred to the municipal gallery, which was formally founded on January 1, 1961.
