The Stöbich Fire Protection GmbH is a German manufacturer of fire protection products . The company's headquarters are in Goslar . There are currently four branches in Germany and the company is active in over 50 other countries worldwide.

history

The Goslar family business has its origins in 1978 when a major fire in the Hanoverian Bahlsen plant caused damage amounting to millions, as the fire was transmitted to several parts of the factory through the necessary wall openings in the conveyor system. At that time there was no functioning or tested construction for continuous transport systems. The first fire barriers for continuous conveyor technology were then designed for such openings.

The company Stöbich Brandschutz was founded on January 1st, 1980 in Goslar by the partners Lutz Ahner, Horst Steinert, Gerd Odlozinski and Jochen Stöbich. After two moves (1982 and 1985), the company's location was finally relocated to a new building in the Goslar industrial park, where the company's headquarters are still located today. In 1990 the southern branch in Bopfingen was established . Two years later, Bernd Steinert left the company and the east branch in Halle / Queis was opened. After the departure of the two partners Lutz Ahner and Gerd Odlozinski, the corporate form changed to Stöbich Brandschutz GmbH. During the following years the existing locations were further expanded.

The company's current managing directors are Jochen Stöbich and Joachim Barthold.

Business areas

The focus of production was initially on structural fire protection systems for continuous conveyor systems . In addition, the development and production of textile fire and smoke protection solutions has established itself as the strongest business area. The company is the global market leader in this area. The company's own developments have so far resulted in 11 world firsts in structural fire protection. The latest innovation is a fire protection curtain, which for the first time successfully withstands the mechanical stresses of the Hose Stream test according to the UL standard. The range also includes products from the areas of noise protection as well as emergency power and control systems.

The company currently employs more than 350 people in Germany and, according to its own information, has an annual turnover of around 42 million euros. The Stöbich Holding GmbH & Co KG group of companies with the other areas of structural fire protection, control technology, fabric development and assembly, optical measurement technology, fire damage restoration, insulation technology as well as service and maintenance achieved a turnover of around 87 million euros with a total of 919 employees.

Glass filament fabric

Glass filament fabrics have been used for several years for. B. as molded parts in insulation technology and as heat shields in furnace and automotive engineering. Compared to the previously known applications of the material in the form of static components, however, specific modifications are necessary. Changes have to be made here, particularly with regard to the load on the fabric surfaces in the event of dynamic permanent stress from winding mechanisms, its tightness against the penetration of fire smoke and the resistance to thermal stress. In cooperation with manufacturers in the industry, textile research institutes and fire testing institutes, a material was developed that exceeded the properties of conventional building materials in essential requirements. A new generation of fire protection products was developed on this basis.

Intumescent materials

Intumescent materials serve as sealing materials. When exposed to thermal stress, they cause residual openings to be closed by foaming and thus prevent smoke and toxic gases from penetrating. The expansion process of the material prevents the components of the unseparated conveyor systems from glowing through the fire protection wall by removing heat.
