St. Cyriaci Church

The St. Cyriaci Church is an Evangelical Lutheran church in the Dorste district of the city of Osterode am Harz .

history

The original church building dates from around 1250. In 1351, Plebanus Friedericus, the first pastor at the church, is mentioned.

The patronage was initially held by the noble lords of Plesse. In 1299 it was transferred to the Höckelheim monastery , later to the Landgrave of Hesse and finally to the respective sovereign until 1871.

Today's quarry stone church was built between 1822 and 1824 and consecrated on October 24, 1824. In 1951, 1986 and 2003 extensive renovation work was carried out on the church tower.

Patronage

The church is dedicated to Saint Cyriacus , one of the fourteen helpers in need.
