St. Josef Church Schwaan

The St. Josef Church is a Roman Catholic church in Schwaan ( Rostock district , Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ) on Bützower Straße. It belongs to the parish Bützow. The church also has a kindergarten of the same name.

history

In 1947 permission was given to convert the old syringe house at Bützower Straße 17 into a new parish church. The work began and many volunteers, especially young people, helped so that the church could be completed on February 28, 1948 and the Catholic community moved into the new chapel for the first time on March 1, 1948. The altar was made by Mr. Roose in Rostock. Since no vehicle was available, Anne Reyter walked to Rostock to fetch the altar.
