St. Salvator Church (Kleinmühlingen)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Protestant St. Salvator Church is located in the southern part of Kleinmühlingen , a district of the municipality of Bördeland . It belongs to the parish area Barby in the parish of leeches of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

In its present form, the church building was built from rubble stones in the second half of the 17th century. There was already a previous building, but there is no information about its origin. The tower, which was built on a square floor plan, still comes from him. He wears like all parts of the building a tiled pitched roof . Both gable sides are provided with a narrow arched window, these are also below on three levels. Its quarry stone walls were covered with plaster during the renovation in 2010. The elongated nave is provided with large arched windows, which are framed with sandstone on the north side. A sacristy was added on the south side at a later date.

Before the renovation of the interior, it was closed with a wooden tapered barrel ceiling, which was replaced by a round barrel ceiling in 2012. The gallery was also changed, which in 1965 was reduced from two floors to one and its sides shortened. In the middle part of the gallery stands the organ built by the Zörbig organ building company Rühlmann in 1897. In the church there are three carved wooden figures depicting Moses and John the Baptist (both in the chancel) and a triumphant Christ (sacristy annex).
