The St. Alban Schwibbogen (also called Kunos Tor , later also called Inneres St. Alban Tor ) is a former small city gate to the city of Basel and formerly part of the inner city wall . It was the forerunner of the St. Alban Gate , which existed as a watchtower even before the city was expanded. Although the St. Alban Schwibbogen lost its original function with the construction of the outer city wall and the incorporation of the St. Alban Gate into the new wall as a city gate, it was retained for a long time and was only demolished in 1878.
