The St.-Johanns-Schwibbogen (also known as Kreuztor , later also called Inneres St.-Johanns-Tor ) is a former small city gate of the city of Basel and former part of the inner city wall . It was the forerunner of the St. Johanns-Tor , which was built further outside after the city expansion. Although the St.-Johanns Schwibbogen lost its original function with the construction of the outer city wall and the St.-Johanns-Tor, it remained for a long time and was only demolished in September 1873 .

The Basel Dance of Death was also located near the St. Johanns Schwibbogen .
