history

Around 1480, Abbot Johann Grasser of the St. Georg Monastery converted his house in Checking into a side church of the monastery. On October 28, 1488, the Church of St. Anna consecrated and in 1515/20 the altarpiece of the northern Marian altar was added.

For centuries there were arguments about pastoral care between the St. Emmeram Monastery (the Dech Betten pastoral care office was an exclave of the monastery) and theChecking Monastery , which had built the church.

In the course of the secularization of 1809, the church was threatened with demolition, which the citizens ofChecking could avert by buying the small church for 200 guilders. In 1938 the church became the property of the city of Regensburg. After severe bomb damage on April 16, 1945, it was rebuilt according to old plans until 1962.
