The St. Anna chapel , together with the old Widum (formerly known as Deutschhaus ), is a protected architectural monument of the market town of Lana in South Tyrol . It has served as a nursing home since 1987 .

history

The Teutonic Order , who had been in charge of the Lana parish since 1396, built the monastery-like complex as a home for members of the order. Until the 17th century, the parish was only sporadically occupied by members of the order and provided more with pastors. St. Anna initially took on at least some of the tasks of a parsonage. In the 13th to 14th centuries, the building belonged to the Lords of Brunnen (Latin: de fonte ) and was referred to as Deutschhaus in documents . In the middle of the 16th century, the pastor's residence, who had previously resided in today's sacristan's house near the parish church of Niederlana , was finally relocated to St. Anna. The building complex has since served as a widum. With the dissolution of the orders in all states of the Rhine Confederation in 1809, the parish of Lana was also occupied by world priests by the Bavarian government. Until the beginning of the 20th century, the property served as the seat of the order of the priestly community. From 1931 to 1981 St. Anna was a retirement home run by the Teutonic Sisters. From 1987 to 1990 the listed complex with chapel was renovated , with St. Anna being converted into a nursing home. In 1997 a therapy bath was installed.
