St. Florian (Straden)
The Roman Catholic Church of St. Florian on the Himmelberg is the youngest of the four churches in Straden in Styria .
It was built in two stages on the highest point of the sky mountain. The tower and choir were built in 1644 on the remains of a castle ruin. A hall church was later added to this building. The construction work was carried out from 1654 to 1668 by the Leibnitz master builder Ruep Schopper . The inauguration ceremony took place on February 10, 1686.
A benefit secured the service in this church, which is only a few minutes' walk from the parish church.
An inscription on the altar sheet dates its completion in 1754. The picture shows Saint Florian and is by Valentin J. Metzinger .
The sculptural work of the pulpit erected in 1768 is attributed to Wenzel Tomitschegg .
The two side altars from 1771 are dedicated to Saint Anne and Saint Joseph.
The organ loft, built in 1775, has an organ with eleven registers . It is the only known organ by the Radkersburg organ builder Christian Clevo and was richly decorated by the Radkersburg sculptor Johann Lehner .
