The St. Gallen Vipers , also called Seaside Vipers St. Gallen , were a Swiss American football club that was created in 1996 through a merger of the two clubs St. Gallen Raiders and Turgovia Lions .
history
Of the two previous clubs, the Raiders were more successful. In 1990 and 1992 the team won the Swiss Bowl , the Swiss championship game, and then took part in the European Football League . After the merger, the club celebrated its greatest successes from 1997 to 2000, when the Swiss Bowl was won four times in a row.
On November 7, 2008, the general assembly resolved to dissolve the club. Efforts to found a new club under the old name of St. Gallen Raiders were fruitless.
The flag football team, which became Swiss champions in 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013 and continues to participate in the championship, continues to play under this name . (As of January 2018)
