St. Josef in Nachrodt

St. Josef is a Roman Catholic church in Nachrodt , a district of the twin community Nachrodt-Wiblingwerde in the Märkisches Kreis ( North Rhine-Westphalia ). Today it belongs to the parish of St. Matthew in Altena . Church and parish belong to the Altena-Lüdenscheid district dean of the diocese of Essen .

history

At the end of the 19th century the parish of St. Josef was established in Nachrodt. In 1894 a first church building and a classroom could be built. The community was initially not independent, but was looked after by Altena. In 1907 the first vicar was sent to Nachrodt, and in 1920 the community was raised to an independent parish.

The present church building was on September 25, 1927 consecrated .

Due to the restructuring of the diocese of Essen from 2006 to 2008, the parish of St. Josef was abolished and the parish of St. Matthew in Altena was merged with St. Theresia in Evingsen .
