Church of St. Josef in Raut

The Roman Catholic Church in Raut is dedicated to St. Joseph . It is a branch church of the parish Maria Luggau and is located at an altitude of 1243 m south of the pilgrimage site Maria Luggau in the village of Raut in the municipality of Lesachtal .

The church is a small, late baroque-classicist building with a 3/8 end built in 1805. It has a wooden roof turret with a small onion helmet over the west facade . The church has three tall rectangular windows on both long sides. The nave and the drawn-in choir are flat-roofed and are connected by a triumphal arch with a straight lintel. In the west there is a swinging, brick gallery. The wall paintings were created in 1808 by Christoph Brandstätter the Elder and show Christ in Emmaus in the choir , the Lamb of God above the triumphal arch and the death of St. Joseph in the nave. The altarpiece on the historicizing altar depicts the church patron, Saint Joseph. There is also a copy of the at the altarLuggau miraculous image .

On the farmhouse, the Hanslahof, opposite the church, there are wall paintings from 1816 with the saints Lukas and Florian .
