The St. Josefs Hospital Hilden is a hospital on Walder Straße in Hilden and is sponsored by the Kplus Group . The hospital has more than 300 employees. Around 8,500 inpatients and 11,000 outpatients are treated here every year.

history

The story of the St. Josef Hospital began in 1888, when the parish council of St. Jakobus decided to acquire the Hülsemannsche brewery on Schützenstrasse and convert it into a clinic. Two years later, the Sisters of the Order of the Poor Maidservants of Jesus Christ began operating the hospital. Saint Joseph gives the house his name as the patron saint. During the First World War, the hospital became a military hospital. About 20 years later, the building on Schützenstrasse no longer met the increasing demands. In order to be able to build a new building, a piece of land was acquired on Walder Strasse. The groundbreaking ceremony took place in June 1936 and the opening in 1938.

In the decades to come, the building grew and was continuously modernized in order to meet current medical and nursing standards. New operating rooms, a central emergency room and additional wards are just some of the many measures that have been implemented.

In the immediate vicinity is the medical center Mediplus Hilden - a medical center that houses many specialists in medicine and therapy, from kidney specialists to nuclear medicine. This is how a competence network for health has emerged on Walder Strasse, the strength of which is the close interlinking of outpatient and inpatient offers.

Departments

The house has six full-time specialist departments and a receipt department:

  • Internal Medicine
  • surgery
  • Trauma surgery
  • Gynecology and obstetrics
  • Senology
  • Anesthesia, intensive care medicine and pain therapy
  • Ear, nose and throat medicine (reference department)

There are also certified centers, some of which have catchment areas that extend far beyond the city limits:

  • Endoprosthetics Center
  • Breast center
  • Local trauma center
