St. Kilian (Orlach)
St. Kilian in Orlach , today part of Braunsbach in the district of Schwäbisch Hall , is a Protestant parish church.
description
The church tower on the south side, dating from the 12th century, is the oldest part, which was originally decorated with frescoes, which were rediscovered during a renovation in 2002.
The rest of the church building dates from 1705. The baroque crucifix and a Baptist figure, a silver candlestick and a depiction of the Last Supper have been preserved from this period.
The building is still Romanesque in the basement with a choir (apse oriel). On the third floor of the tower, which used to be the chancel of the church, there are four sound windows, coupled and with an overhanging arch; the dividing pillars were replaced by modern pillars. In the nave there is a baptismal font on the altar grille.
