St. Magdalena (Kirchstätt)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Church of St. Magdalena or Magdalenenkirche near Kirchstätt in the municipality of Schnaitsee in the Upper Bavarian district of Traunstein is a Catholic church that used to be a pilgrimage church. Their location is noticeable a little outside the town between fields.

The Romanesque church tower was probably built in the 12th century and is therefore one of the oldest churches in the Diocese of Munich-Freising. The late Gothic nave and the choir were built in the 15th century, the wall that surrounds the small churchyard is from the 17th or 18th century.

In 1802 the church should be torn down, according to the Kling court . But this was prevented by Pastor Storch, the pastor of the church, in a letter in which he emphasized the pointlessness of this action.
