St. Mary's Assumption (Düsseldorf-Lohausen)
The Catholic Church of St. Mary's Assumption in Düsseldorf-Lohausen is a brick church in the Romanesque style.
St. Mariä Himmelfahrt was built in 1899 as a village church for Lohausen. It initially belonged to the parish of Kalkum and in 1909 became an independent parish church. Since 1999, St. Mary's Assumption has been part of the Holy Family parish . An extensive renovation took place from 1994 to 1997 under the architects Hubert Brauns and Gisbert Dahmen-Wassenberg.
The church is stylistically designed as a Romanesque basilica , but the tower is to the side of the church. The use of red bricks is also rather unusual for this architectural style.
Another special feature is the warning light for the nearby Düsseldorf Airport on the top of the tower cross.
