Loppenhausen Chapel St. Maria SO

The Roman Catholic Chapel of St. Maria at the southern end of Loppenhausen , a district of the municipality of Breitenbrunn in the Unterallgäu district ( Bavaria ), was built in the 18th century and is a listed building.

Building description

The small building, renovated in 1969, consists of a semicircular closed space spanned by a flat ceiling over a high, sloping volute . The west-facing chapel is accessed through a profiled and framed round arched door on the east side. There are profiled cornices on the sloping gable, as well as on the eaves . A small pointed arch window is embedded on each of the long sides.

Interior

Above the brick cafeteria altar is a painting depicting Our Lady of Loreto as intercessor for the poor souls. The portrait painted on wood dates from around 1700 and bears the inscription Renoviert 1782 et 1821. In the chapel there are numerous votive pictures , most of which date from around 1800 , all of which are oil paintings on wood, many of them with a curved top the outer ends with the sole pulled down like a console.

Two reverse glass pictures from the early 19th century with the Heart of Jesus and the Heart of Mary are in the chapel.
