The Catholic parish church and former pilgrimage church of St. Martin in Emersacker , a municipality in the Swabian district of Augsburg in Bavaria , is a protected architectural monument.

history

The patronage rights were originally owned by the local lords. The basement of the tower dates from the second half of the 15th century and was raised in the second half of the 16th century. During the Thirty Years War the church was looted and badly damaged. In 1717 the Fugger Foundation administration, with the exception of the tower, demolished the too small Gothic church. The master mason and carpenter Matthias Kraus from Dinkelscherben may have been commissioned to build the new choir and nave . For the pilgrimage to the miraculous image of Maria zum Blute , which flourished in the 18th century , a grace chapel was also added by Kraus in 1725. In 1835 a second gallery with an organ was installed. In 1992/93 the nave was extended to the west. On the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the church, two new bells were purchased from the Bachert company in Karlsruhe in 2018.

Furnishing

Gutstav Kuttruff painted the high altar sheet Baptism of Christ in 1922. The frescoes on the gallery parapet also come from Kuttruff. The side altar paintings from 1845 were created by Florian Kurringer. They show the Holy Family on the left and Christ as a child friend on the right . The ceiling painting in the Chapel of Mercy with the theme of Adoration of the Miraculous Image was probably made in the middle of the 18th century. Martin Bigelmair made the altar in 1931, following the example of the original altar from 1725.
