St. Martin

The former Catholic parish church of St. Martin is a listed church building in Pfalzel .

history

The previous church was also a Martinskirche from the Franconian times . The Archbishop of Trier Johann II had a new church built in 1498. This collapsed in 1771 due to disrepair. According to the plans of L. Leblanc, a classicist , simple hall with a tower was built from 1773 to 1778 .

In 1962 it was converted into a parish hall. A late baroque wayside shrine stands in front of the walled-up middle entrance .
