The Protestant Saint Salvator Church in Kluczbork (Kreuzburg) is one of the city's oldest monuments.

History and equipment

The church was built in the 14th century in place of the earlier church built in 1298. Because of the repeated fires, it was rebuilt and rebuilt several times. It has served the Protestant community since 1527. After the major fire in 1737, which destroyed the town hall and many town houses next to the church, the wooden ceiling was replaced with a brick vault .

In the period 1743–1745 the interior was rebuilt by Adam Dedicius and Daniel Mietle and received a rococo interior . The sculptures and reliefs as well as the high altar, the pulpit, the baptismal font and the organ prospect date from the years 1750–1760 and are works by Leopold Jaschke.

1795–1797 the church tower was raised and in 1806 it received a tower clock. Around 1820 the previous shingle roof covering was replaced by roof tiles, and the tower was given a cupola made of sheet copper.

In 1824 a sacristy was added to the south side .

The church was registered on April 14, 1964 under 802/64 in the register of architectural monuments of the Opole Voivodeship .
