Franz Heinrich (entrepreneur)

Franz Heinrich (born February 23, 1876 ; * March 4, 1928 ) was a German porcelain manufacturer.

Career

Heinrich worked as a porcelain painter. In 1896 he built a smelter in his parents' house in Selb . Initially, he purchased white goods from local china factories. From 1901 he produced porcelain himself.

Under his leadership, the Heinrich Selb porcelain factory developed into one of the most important manufacturers in Germany. In the heyday, almost half of German porcelain production came from the Hutschenreuther , Rosenthal and Heinrich factories in Selber . He died mentally deranged on March 4th, 1928.

By 1930 his company had 500 employees, and by the early 1970s over 800.

After the Second World War, Heinrich was the first porcelain manufacturer in West Germany to resume production and sold his company to the English Slater Walker Group. In 1974 the English Bowater Group took over the company. In 1976 Heinrich Porzellan GmbH was incorporated into the "Villeroy & Boch" company association.
