Staßfurter Rundfunk refers to the production of radio receivers operated from 1923 by Staßfurter Licht- und Kraftwerke AG , Staßfurt . From 1932 the company operated under the name of Staßfurter Rundfunk-Gesellschaft mbH .

Staßfurter Licht- und Kraftwerke AG - radio construction

The director of the Staßfurter Licht- und Kraftwerke AG, Adolf Steindorff, set up a radio test laboratory in the company for his son Wolf Steindorff, a student of electrical engineering . Under his leadership, the "Mechanische Werkstatt - Radiobau" for the construction of detector receivers , tube radios and variable capacitors is put into operation in 1923 . The company began producing a 1-tube audion at the same time as the first radio broadcast in Germany in 1923 . The carpentry workshop of Alfred Diesing from Staßfurt took over the production of the wooden housing for the radio sets. In 1927 the company had around 400 employees and produced the 25,000th receiver; production was expanded to include power supply units for heating and anode voltage , audio amplifiers and loudspeakers .

In cooperation with the Georg Nissen radio technology laboratory in Vienna, the production of superheterodyne receivers for battery operation "Mikrohet B" began under the brand "Lichtkraft Staßfurt", which was used until 1932.

From 1929, with the "Mikrohet W", superheterodyne radios with mains operation were produced in series for the first time in Germany, along with permanent dynamic loudspeakers. Since 1930 the radios from the Staßfurt house have been branded "Imperial".

In 1932 radio production was outsourced to the Staßfurter Rundfunk-Gesellschaft mbH . Wolf Steindorff became director of the approx. 600 employees. In addition to numerous radios and music cabinets for private use, the company also manufactured government equipment from 1933. In addition, the company started manufacturing the Volksempfänger type VE 301 at this time . In 1936, 2,000 employees developed and built high-quality radio sets with a turnover of 20 million RM under the name "Staßfurter Imperial" and the emblem with spread eagle wings .

With the exception of the production of popular and small receivers ( DKE38 ), the development and production of radio sets ended with the model year 1939/1940 .

Arms production

With the beginning of the war in 1939, the development of radio remote control receivers for target control of air-to-ground missiles for the air force and other military radio technology began. Closure after the end of the war and rebuilding as VEB

After the war, the company's head office was occupied by American troops and all armaments documents were confiscated. The factory halls were temporarily used as a prison camp. Since July 1945 the city of Staßfurt and the factory belonged to the Soviet occupation zone .

The pre-war company began to be reactivated under the old name of Staßfurter Rundfunk-Gesellschaft mbH . The company in Staßfurt was now producing equipment for the USSR under Soviet direction . In 1946 the production of radio sets reached 3,130. In September 261 people worked in the plant and achieved a turnover of 1,055,000 RM.

After the formation of the Association of Nationally Owned Enterprises (VVB) , the plant was assigned as VEB Stern-Radio Staßfurt to VVB RFT (radio and telecommunications technology) based in Leipzig in 1949 . The device designation "Imperial" thus expired. The new company logo was "Stern-Radio Staßfurt" until 1961. Were produced in small numbers of single circuit - straight receiver and four-tube Super . The number of employees was 341.

The former director Wolfenstein Dorff founded in 1948 in Osterode in western resin in combination with the light and power plants resin , the Continental Broadcasting GmbH with the company and unit designation "Imperial".
