The State Savings Bank of Ukraine ( Ukrainian Державний ощадний банк України ) also called Oschadbank (Ukrainian Ощадбанк , German Oschtschadbank ) is one of the largest banks in Ukraine. The bank belongs to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and is therefore a state bank . It is designed as a savings bank similar to the savings banks in Germany and Austria , but not at the local-regional level, but at the state level.

The bank is headquartered in Kiev . With over 6,000 branches, the bank has one of the largest branch networks in Ukraine.

history

With the independence of Ukraine from the Soviet Union in 1991, the Sparbank was spun off from the Sparbank of the Soviet Union . On December 31, 1991 the bank was registered with the National Bank of Ukraine under the number 4 as an independent banking institution under the name "State Specialized Commercial Savings Bank of Ukraine" ( Державний спеціалізований комерційний ощадний банк України ).
