Adolph Johns
Adolph Johns (born September 22, 1809 in Hamburg ; † December 1, 1860 in Funchal , Madeira ) was a Hamburg merchant .
Life
Adolph Johns was a son of the Hamburg merchant CJ Johns and brother of Eduard Johns and Rudolph Johns . He took over his father's business on December 31, 1838, which he renamed CJ John's Sons. His brother Eduard became a partner on July 1, 1842. As a result of the economic crisis of 1857 , the company was liquidated and Johns founded a new business on January 30, 1858 under the company Adolph Johns.
In 1840 Johns was a member of the committee that campaigned for the creation of a rail link between Hamburg and Berlin . He volunteered in the St. Nikolaikirche in Hamburg . There, Johns was adjunct in 1843 and 1844 , from 1845 to 1858 in the hundred eighties and in 1859 and 1860 in the sixties . He was also provisional to the orphanage in 1845 , commercial judge from 1846 to 1852, and military commissioner from 1853 to 1855. Johns was a member of the Chamber of Commerce from December 1855 to September 1860 . In this capacity he was sent to the Customs and Accesise Deputation in 1856, to the Shipping and Port Deputation in 1859 and 1860 and to the Deputation for Emigration in 1860. From 1856 to 1860 he was a member of the Brokerage Regulations.
Johns was a member of the Hamburg parliament in 1859 and 1860 .
