State Historical Museums (Sweden)

The State Historical Museums (Swedish Statens historiska museer ) are a Swedish authority and comprise the two museums State Historical Museum and Royal Coin Cabinet . The authority is also responsible for the operation of the Tumba factory museum .

The State Historical Museums are responsible for archeology and church art in Sweden. Their collections include approximately 20 million items from across the country. In addition to documenting and exhibiting, they have the mandate to coordinate the activities of the museums in their area of ​​responsibility (archeology and church art) and to support other museums in this area, especially at regional level.
