Public Prosecutor's Office (Albania)

In Albania , the public prosecutor's office ( Albanian Prokuroria e Përgjithshme ) is the highest prosecuting authority that carries out legal prosecution and represents the prosecution in court on behalf of the state. The presiding prosecutor is proposed by the president and approved by parliament . Ina Rama has been in this position since November 23, 2007 . In 2012 she was replaced by Adriatik Llalla . The seat is in the capital Tirana .

The public prosecutor's office is subordinate to the lawyerships of the district court, of which there are 31. The Public Prosecutor's Office has its own sections: the Appeals Office and the Serious Crime Lawyers' Office.

The duties of the Public Prosecutor's Office are regulated by Law No. 8737 of the Albanian Constitution , which was passed on February 12, 2001.

history

The first public prosecutor's office in Albania was established on May 10, 1913, a few months after the country gained independence.
