Public Prosecutor (France)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the French judiciary, the representatives of the public prosecutor's office (French: ministère public, parquet ) are responsible for attending to the executive branch in the ordinary courts . They are state officials and as such are subject to instructions. Their main job is to prosecute criminal offenses. The French public prosecutor's office can, however, also act in civil proceedings, be it as a subsidiary intervener or even as a party, if public order issues come into consideration.
