Villa Gellertstrasse 9

description

The under monument protection standing Villa has a "picturesque, asymmetrical look," which is caused by the numerous extensions. The original building was a single-storey villa in the Swiss style with rafter roof, traufständig emphasized was facing the street, the balanced view of the center, on top of a flat ridge roof (well, at least similar to the architectural drawing from 1888 of the neighboring Villa Selma .).

Today the plastered house standing on a rubble stone plinth is two-story, the roof is slated. In the left side view is facing the street, a large stand bay , behind it a distinctive, round stair tower with a conical roof. There is a massive veranda at the rear of the building .

Inside the house, the original stucco ceilings have been partially preserved.

history

After submitting the building application in December 1888, it took until October 1890 for the Ziller brothers to receive the building approval. The transformation and expansion of the building began as early as 1895, initially with the construction of a stair tower. In 1908, the builder Alwin Höhne added an oriel in the side view for the merchant Otto Möbius, who at about the same time also had the adjacent Villa Selma modified, and in 1912 a ground floor extension followed on the left.
