State Law Gazette

State Law Gazette for the State of German Austria

After the end of the Habsburg Monarchy , the State Law Gazette was the official gazette for laws and certain resolutions of the National Assembly for German Austria . It first appeared on November 15, 1918.

Unless the law itself provided for a different date, the published standards came into force on the 45th day after publication.

The law of October 21, 1919 on the form of government (StGBl. 1919/484) expressly provided for entry into force on the day of its announcement, that was October 23, 1919. The title of the State Law Gazette therefore had to change on that day. Accordingly, two editions of the StGBl appeared on October 23, 1919: an old State Law Gazette for the State of German-Austria with the above law, and a newly titled State Law Gazette for the Republic of Austria .

Otherwise, the renaming did not result in any changes. According to § 1 of the law of October 21, 1919 on the form of government, the Republic of Austria was just another name for the Republic of the State of German Austria. In particular, the numbering of the legal acts was simply continued.

From November 10, 1920, the State Law Gazette was replaced by the Federal Law Gazette for the Republic of Austria . For a short time the State Law Gazette was revived in 1945 as the official gazette of the Provisional State Government ( StGBl. No. 1/1945 and following) until it was replaced by the Federal Law Gazette (from BGBl. No. 1/1945 ).
