Stadskunukuhuis Oranjestad
The Stadskunukuhuis Oranjestad , also known as Henriquez Pand , is a former merchant's house in the capital Oranjestad in Aruba .
history
The property in Schelpstraat 36-38, formerly known locally as "Casa de la Municipalidad", was rebuilt on behalf of the shipowner and merchant Abelardo Henriquez (1875–1956). After the shipowner's death, the warehouse was used as the Stadskunukuhuis (community hall) for a few years.
The property consists of two adjoining building units, a warehouse from the 19th century and a residential building that was added to the existing warehouse in the first half of the 20th century. In 1997 the complex was placed under monument protection and registered in the Lijst van monumenten op Aruba under the number 01-015.
The property was restored and completed in 2002 and is now used by the Monument Office as an office building (Monumentenbureau Aruba).
