The building of the city pharmacy was first mentioned in 1766 as the inn "Zum halben Mond". The city pharmacy was founded in 1800 by Wilhelm Dammann as the “court and city pharmacy”.
Over time, the building underwent several renovations; It was last given its present form in 1992 as part of a comprehensive restoration. The pharmacy gained national fame as of 2003 as the location for the television series Dr. Kleist .
