The Ansfelden City Library is a municipal, public library . It was founded in 1996 and has been located in the city center on Hauptplatz in Ansfelden ( Upper Austria ) since December 2011 .
history
The library was opened as a city library on September 20, 1996 and was housed in the basement of a cooperative building until December 12, 2011. There was enough space for the initial media holdings, but as the population, membership and demand increased, alternatives had to be sought. These were found in the extension of the old official building, the new city center, with which the municipal services moved from the previous peripheral location to the center of the city.

The holdings are exclusively set up in the open access system. Since 1999, visitors have had the opportunity to access the Internet at paid terminals. Since the move, it has also been possible to access online content on the World Wide Web free of charge via a hot spot from mobile devices. In addition to the book inventory, the library also offers music CDs, games and films on DVD, as well as magazines for hire.
In addition to German-language works, the city library also offers works in other languages and thus fulfills its educational mandate with regard to the different languages in the population.
Library holdings
There are more than 16,500 items available for loan, of which around 76 percent are books and 2 percent are audio books. The library was run between 1996 and 2010 by two full-time employees, who have been supported by volunteers since 2010. In 2012, 4,000 people (around 25 percent of the Ansfeldn population) were enrolled and around 50,000 borrowings were recorded. The library offers the possibility to search the holdings online.
