Toninia sedifolia (long common synonym : Toninia coeruleonigricans ) is a lichen from the Catillariaceae family that lives on calcareous soils.
description
The warty-crusty thallus of Toninia sedifolia is dominated by scales that appear vesicular and appear moist olive-brown to gray-green and often have a strong bluish-white frosting. The black, up to 3 mm wide apothecia are usually also frosted when young.
distribution
Toninia sedifolia predominantly colonizes calcareous soil, gaps in limestone grasslands, crevices in limestone or calcareous mosses or limestone. It is found in Central Europe especially in low mountain ranges and, as a type of character of the so-called “colorful earth lichen society”, is often associated with Fulgensia fulgens or Psora decipiens .
