The thallus of Psora decipiens consists of up to 4 mm wide, brownish, brown-red or pink-red scales with a whitish edge. These seldom overlap, are rounded to cupped or slightly notched and whitish on the underside. Apothecia are rather rare, marginal, black and without borders.

distribution

Psora decipiens settles mainly on calcareous soil or limestone, sometimes also on moss. It is a type of character of the so-called "Colorful Earth Lichen Society", which includes Fulgensia fulgens . It occurs all over Europe up to the alpine zones, but is generally rare and endangered.
