Sigmund Anton Steiner
Sigmund Anton Steiner (born April 26, 1773 in Weitersfeld , Lower Austria, † March 28, 1838 in Vienna ) was an Austrian music publisher and art dealer.
Life
In 1784 he went to Langenlois school as a choirboy , and in 1794 as a clerk in a law firm in Vienna . Later, Secretary of Joseph Hartl of lynx stone to become independent, to help him and the 1803 lithographic Institute of Alois Senefelder purchase. Now sheet music by the most famous composers as well as portraits appeared with the help of this new, inexpensive printing technique. In 1810 Tobias Haslinger joined the company and led it to a new boom. From 1826 he was the sole owner. During this time, Steiner came into contact with Ludwig van Beethoven, and his company published many of the composer's works in first editions up until the 1820s. Steiner's and Haslinger's business became a popular meeting place for Beethoven and his friends.
