The Stadtwerke Trossingen GmbH (SWTro) are the regional energy and water utility of the city of Trossingen in Baden-Wuerttemberg . In addition, the company acts as a railway infrastructure company (EIU) for the Trossingen Railway .

history

Stadtwerke Trossingen was founded more than 100 years ago with the construction of the Trossingen railway . Because the railway has to overcome a relatively steep incline, those responsible decided to use electric trains. A separate power station was built to supply power to the railway, which was electrified from the start.

The business areas included transport and electricity. The water supply was added later. District heating was added in 1983, and wastewater was added in 1994. In 1999 the Stadtwerke also took over the outdoor swimming pool in Trossingen. The outdoor pool was returned to the city of Trossingen at the end of the 2003 swimming season.

In 2001 the municipal utilities were spun off as an in-house operation. Until then, they were owned by the city. The natural gas network was acquired on January 1, 2002. The gas supply in Trossingen was thus also taken over in-house. The traffic area was expanded to include a multi-storey car park in 2005. The underground car park went into operation on December 1, 2005.
