The Stadtwerke Witzenhausen GmbH is the regional provider of Hessian town of Witzenhausen in Werra-Meissner in Germany . They supply the city with electricity, heat and water and are also responsible for the sewage, the operation of the outdoor pool and the city bus.

history

Stadtwerke was founded on November 28, 1921.

Since December 18, 1900, the power supply was operated by the Berlin accumulator and electricity works. From 1936 the municipal utilities supplied the citizens with water. For a long time there were no big changes. From 1970 to 1974 there were two changes. The industrial settlement in the Gelstertal and a regional reform followed. The heating division was set up in 1987. From 1994, the Stadtwerke took over the local public transport (ÖPNV). A year later, the wastewater supply area was added as a fifth division. In 1998 the founding of today's Stadtwerke Witzenhausen GmbH and Witzenhausen sewage disposal were completed. In the same year, the municipal utilities took over management of the swimming pools in Witzenhausen. Werra-Strom GmbH was founded in 2010.
