As relay break in is geological faulting a contiguous (staggered) sequence of tectonic faults in the upper crust , respectively.

Examples can be found in the Vienna Basin .

Distribution areas

Relay fractures are mostly present in recent or fossil subsidence areas. Relay fractures are often found at the edges of sedimentary basins .
