Standard of the Turkish President
The standard of the presidency of the Turkish Republic ( Turkish Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Cumhurbaşkanlığı Forsu) represents the presidency (or the president ).

The standard shows a white crescent moon and a white star on a red background like the flag of Turkey , as well as 16 yellow stars and a yellow sun in the upper left corner ( Gösch ).
There are different theories about the meaning of the 16 stars and the sun. According to official information, the 16 stars symbolize the largest Turkish states in history. The sun in the center of these stars represents the Republic of Turkey .
Legal basis
The use, manufacture and appearance of the standard are regulated by law.
The regulation of the standard is based on Law No. 2893 of September 22, 1983 and is regulated in the Council of Ministers Resolution No. 85/9034 of January 25, 1985 (amended by Council of Ministers Resolution No. 2012/3334 of June 25, 2012).

The flag must be used in the following locations:
- Residence of the President
- Places of stay, for the duration of the stay
- on the left behind the President's desk
- on the left front side of the vehicle in which the President is located
The standard remains hoisted day and night.
Prosecution
According to Article 300 of the Turkish Penal Code , insulting the flag is a criminal offense:
- Anyone who publicly insults the Turkish flag by tearing it up, burning it or by other means will be punished with a prison sentence of between one and three years.
