Location identifier

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Germany, a four-digit location identifier is transmitted from public telephones to the emergency answering station when an emergency number is dialed. Also, emergency telephones transmit a location identifier. This location identifier can be used to determine immediately from which location the emergency call came. In this way, an emergency call can be initiated even without a voice connection .
