The Stanislavsky and Nemirovich Danchenko Music Theater is an opera house in Moscow.

The house was founded by the directors Konstantin Stanislavski and Vladimir Nemirowitsch-Danchenko . It has existed in its current form since 1941, after two opera troupes were united. The theater was considered a laboratory for creating new opera and ballet performances.

After Stanislavski's death (1938), Vladimir Nemirowitsch-Danchenko took over the management of the theater, which soon received its current name.

In October – December 1941 this house was the only theater in Moscow that did not cease work, although some of the productions had to be canceled due to air alarms. A number of theatrical artists were later awarded "For the Defense of Moscow" medals . In 1964 the institution was awarded the title Academic Theater, in 1969 it received the Order of the Red Banner.

Gennady Provatorov ran the house from 1961 to 1965. The current director of the theater is the Soviet and Russian choreographer and ballet master Michael L. Lavrovsky, People's Artist of the USSR (1976).

The theater was ravaged by fires in 1989 and 2005.
