Bayer Wind Orchestra Leverkusen

The Bayer-Blasorchester Leverkusen ( BBO ), founded in 1901, is the oldest cultural association of Bayer AG and the largest wind orchestra in Leverkusen . Musically, the club, consisting of 45 players, is one of the symphonic wind orchestras . It is an amateur orchestra . Pierre Kuijpers has been artistic director since 1996 .

history

In 1901, the association was initially known as the “orchestral association of the paint factory”. Friedrich Bayer ”was founded. In 1928 the orchestra played when the foundation stone was laid for the library building for the Deutsches Museum in Munich. In 1966 the name was changed to “Bayer-Blasorchester Leverkusen”. In 1970, musicians from the Bayer Wind Orchestra formed the Bayer Big Band. Since Pierre Kuijpers took over the artistic direction of the Bayer Wind Orchestra, the focus of work has been on symphonic wind music . In addition to symphonic music, the repertoire also includes excerpts from operas and musicals as well as pop , film and marching music .

Performances and concert tours

For more than 60 years, the Whitsun concert has traditionally been held on Whit Monday in the Erholungshaus Leverkusen. The orchestra also traditionally gives another concert at the same location in autumn. Artists such as Steven Mead , Jörg Kaufmann and Roman Salyutov have performed with the Bayer Wind Orchestra Leverkusen . So far, tours have taken the orchestra to Brazil , the USA , Turkey , Italy , Austria , Switzerland and Sweden . Various records and CDs.
