Pierre Kuijpers

Pierre Kuijpers (* 1945 in Thorn , Netherlands ) is a Dutch conductor and oboist .

Life

Kuijpers studied oboe and conducting at the Tilburg Conservatory and Maastricht Conservatory . He passed his final examination as a conductor with Professor Rocus van Yperen at the Koninklijk Conservatorium The Hague . As an oboist he played in the orchestra of the South Dutch Opera and in the Maastricht Symphony Orchestra and conducted parallel symphonic wind orchestras in the South of the Netherlands. As part of an international conducting competition in Kerkrade , Kuijpers was awarded the golden baton in 1974 . Until 1979 he worked as an oboe teacher at the Maastricht Conservatory. From 1978 to 2008 he was the conductor of the Symphonic Wind Orchestra of the Philips-Werke in Eindhoven . From 1986 to 1995 he directed the Royal Military Band of the Netherlands in The Hague. He is the conductor of the Bayer-Blasorchester Leverkusen , since 1997 conductor of the JungeBläserPhilharmonie Nordrhein-Westfalen (formerly Landesjugendblasorchester NRW) and is a guest conductor of symphonic wind orchestras in Spain and regularly as a guest conductor at Westdeutscher Rundfunk . Kuijpers took part in numerous recordings.
