Stanwell (pipe maker)
Stanwell is a Danish pipe and smoking tobacco manufacturer, founded in 1948 by Poul Nielsen († 1982). The annual production of the factory in Borup is around 100,000 pipes; this makes Stanwell the largest supplier of machine-made (copy-milled) tobacco pipes. In addition, over 70 brands of smoking tobacco are offered.
In the 1970s, the brand became known in the German-speaking area through the commercials drawn by Loriot . The spots ended with the motto: "A man needs three things: fire - pipe - Stanwell" .
