The plot of the novel series begins at the end of 2377, the calendar year in which the final episode Endgame of the television series takes place. Until the beginning of the fifth novel, Project Full Circle , the main story takes place until 2378. That novel takes place in the period from 2378 to 2381, in which the plot of the novel Heldentod (2380) from the series Star Trek: The Next Generation and the crossover novel trilogy Star Trek: Destiny (2381) are set. The events told there are also significant for the continuity of the Voyager novels from the novel Project Full Circle .
Shortly after Voyager returns to Earth from the Delta Quadrant, Janeway is promoted to Admiral. A mysterious disease breaks out on Earth and viruses are increasingly infecting people , turning them into Borg. Before Voyager officers can end the epidemic, it turns out that an employee of the Starfleet Intelligence Service was responsible for its spread, who admired the Borg based on personal experiences and wanted to rise to the Borg Queen (→ novels "Homecoming" and "Far Shores" ) . A little later, Chakotay is given permanent command of Voyager as the new captain. During Voyager's first mission with Chakotay in this role, he confronts a Cardassian scientist who, with the help of Chakotay's upgraded DNA and driven by greed for recognition, wants to create a new, superior race (→ two-part novel "Geistreise") .
In 2380, Admiral Janeway is captured by the Borg on a cube and made their new queen, as she lets the cube attack the Federation and the solar system. With the help of Seven of Nine, the cube is destroyed and Janeway is killed (→ novel " Heldentod " from the series Star Trek: The Next Generation) . When thousands of Borg cubes invaded Federation territory in the following year (2381), the Voyager was the only spaceship in the fleet it led to survive the attack by the Borg, with Chakotay seriously injured. All Borg are finally destroyed (→ novel trilogy Star Trek: Destiny) .
As part of the Starfleet Full Circle project , the Voyager set out again later in 2381 as the flagship of a fleet of Starfleet spaceships in the Delta Quadrant. The aim of the expedition is to further explore the Delta Quadrant, including what was once Borg territory, and to re-establish contact with the species that Voyager once encountered. The novel "Project Full Circle" and the following novels in the series deal with this expedition and take place in the Delta Quadrant.
In 2381 Janeway was brought back to life by a representative of the species Q. Janeway then takes over the management of the full-circle fleet as admiral .
