StarCom ( English StarCom: The US Space Force ) is an American animated series from 1987. Based on the series, a toy series of motorized playsets and figures was developed.
action
The nefarious members of the consistently malevolent task force Shadow Force try, under the command of their leader, Imperator Dark, to force the cosmos under their yoke. Opposed to this are the pilots of the StarCom units, above all hero and pilot James “Dash” Deringer. In addition to the focused hero himself, numerous brothers in arms worked at his side to save the galaxy, including his immediate relatives. In addition to Dash himself, John "Slim" Griffin, his niece, as well as Colonel "Crowbar" Corbin and Admiral Franklin Brinkley were among the defenders here.
Robotic drones
The so-called robot drones are humanoid robots about two meters tall that make up the largest part of the Shadow Force . They were invented by Emperor Dark . The drones have artificial intelligence that enables them to act independently within the scope of their area of responsibility. You can see through a display that is at eye level. When the drones are activated, when they are processing commands or data, aiming or analyzing something, symbols appear on the display. Communication takes place verbally via a voice synthesizer that is at mouth level on the head, and they also communicate with one another via integrated radio devices. Each drone has an integrated laser that is fired from the palm of the right arm, but since this puts a strain on the internal energy supply, the drones generally use laser pistols and rifles. Instead of a hand with five fingers, the drones have three finger-like surfaces that allow them to operate all kinds of devices. There are electromagnets in the feet which, for example, enable movements on a spaceship's hull in space. The highest ranking robotic drone and de facto the commander is General Torvek.

Action figure series and playsets
The StarCom action figure series consisted of approximately 5.5 cm tall action figures. Heads, limbs and knees were movable. Various vehicles and playsets were also available. The so-called Magna-Lock function should be mentioned as a special feature of this series . Magnets were placed in the soles of each figure, as well as in vehicles (e.g. the underside of the Shadow Parasite). So the figures could stand on vehicles and playsets and vehicles could e.g. B. Lift container. In addition, almost all vehicles have the power deployment system. This means that all vehicles can perform any function, for example unfolding the vehicle after transport. This works purely mechanically without batteries. The manufacturer of this series was Mattel / Coleco.
