The statue menhirs of Piève

The three statue menhirs of Piève are statue menhirs found in different places in Corsica , which are located in the Corsican town of Piève . They were gathered by Roger Grosjean in the forecourt of the Church of San Quilico. They come from three different locations and have names. The three statues were given a resin coating to consolidate the rock, but this had the opposite effect.

Buccentone

Buccentone ( German  "big voice" ) the right statue menhir , was found in 1956 on a path through the pass of Tenda at an altitude of almost 1000 m. Like his companions in Nebbio , he is an anthropomorphic menhir made of crystalline slate , the carved details of which are weathered and no longer recognizable.

Murellu

Murellu, also made of crystalline slate, the spine and shoulder blades of which are still visible, is the largest. He stood on Monte Revincu , in a region of prehistory near the city of Santo Pietro di Tenda.

Murtola

Murtola, the smallest menhir, was originally three feet high but lost its base. He was discovered in the Alisu Valley .
