The Stazione Marittima di Napoli is part of the port of Naples . Formerly built for transoceanic liner shipping, it is now a cruise terminal . It is located on the Molo Angioino pier , whose berths are intended for cruise ships .

history

The Stazione Marittima di Napoli was a building project of the then responsible Ministry for Public Works . The fascist government of Italy attached great importance to the port of the city of Naples for shipping in the Mediterranean and put the new building project out to tender in 1933. Construction began in 1934 and the building was completed in 1936. Architecturally, the Stazione Marittima di Napoli is designed in the style of Italian rationalism . The architect was Cesare Bazzani .

The Stazione Marittima has since been renovated and modernized according to airport standards. It houses check-in facilities, shops and a convention center. It is operated by Terminal Napoli SpA , in which, among other things, several cruise lines are involved.
