Steel Force in Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom ( Allentown , Pennsylvania , USA ) is a steel roller coaster manufactured by Chance Morgan , which opened on May 30, 1997. It was designed by Steve Okamoto .
The length is 1707 m, making it the longest roller coaster on the east coast . It also has a 62.5 m high descent with a speed of 121 km / h, which creates over 2.5 g . In addition, Steel Force has two tunnels with a length of 37 m each and a 510 ° helix . After the block brake on about half of the route, there are four hills that provide airtime on the way back to the station.
At the time of its opening, it was considered the tallest, longest and fastest roller coaster on the east coast. It still holds the record for the longest run.
The Steel Force logo was originally intended for the Mantis roller coaster at Cedar Point , which opened a year earlier. Mantis was originally supposed to be called Banshee , but it was changed to Mantis. Because the logo was no longer appropriate after the name change, Dorney Park adopted the logo for Steel Force.
Trains
Steel Force owns three trains with six cars each. Six people (three rows of two people) can be seated in each car.
